지엠대우는 영종도트랙에서 8월 23 G2X신차 발표를 했다. 

한국에서 시판될 모델은  2.0L 에코텍 터보차져 엔진이며 최고출력  264마력, 최대토크 36kg？m의 성능을 가지고 있다. 정지상태에서 시속 100km까지 올리는데 5.5초 0-160km 까지 14.7초밖에 걸리지 않으며, 최고 시속은 227km다. 변속기는 5단 자동변속기이며, 연비는 리터당 9.8km다. 차량중량은 1340kg이다. 미국에서 판매되는 모델은 아이신제 수동5단 미션과 GM 오토미션 이지만 한국에서는 오토미션 모델만 판매한다. 수동 소프트탑 컨버터블 방식으로 운전자가 직접 차에서 내려 소프트탑을 트렁크를 열고 닫아야 한다. .

옵션으로는 차체자세제어장치(ESP), 지능형 에어백, 225와트 출력의 7스피커 오디오시스템(몬순), 6매 CD체인저, 가죽 버킷 시트, 이모빌라이저 등이장착돼 있다.

G2X는 `Go 2 eXtreme'의 줄인 말로 `극도, 극한, 최고'라는 의미를 포함한다고 회사는 설명했다. 가격(부가세포함)은 4390만원이다. 미국에서 동일옵션의 스카이 레드라인이 약 3만1000달러(약 2900만원)에 판매되고 있는 점을 고려하면 국내 가격이 약 1400만원 비싸다.

The Saturn Sky is a roadster from the Saturn marque of American automaker General Motors. It was released in the first quarter of 2006 as a 2007 model. It uses the Kappa automobile platform shared with the Pontiac Solstice. The Sky concept was shown at the 2005 North American International Auto Show, with the production version following at the 2006 show. It is built at GM's Wilmington, Delaware plant, alongside the Solstice and the Opel GT. The Sky features 18 inch (457 mm) wheels and a 2.4 L Ecotec LE5 I4 engine that produces 177 hp (132 kW) as well as an all-new I-4 2.0L direct injected turbocharged engine that makes 260 hp. manual and automatic transmissions are available, both with five gears.

The styling for the Sky, penned by Franz von Holzhausen, is based on the British Vauxhall VX Lightning design. It is available in some European markets as the GT. The Solstice, Sky, and GT are built in Delaware. A rebadged version named the Daewoo G2X was unveiled as a concept vehicle for the South Korean market in 2006. The production version will be released in August 2007. The aggressive styling has garnered praise as a welcome departure from the typical, conservative "Saturn look".

The Sky is priced at US$25,325 (CA$29,501) with a five-speed manual transmission. A model equipped with a five-speed automatic will cost US$26,175.

In the June 2006 issue of Car and Driver Magazine, a test of the 2007 Saturn Sky posted numbers that are respectable in the sports convertible market, but are not as quick as those of its Kappa sister, the Pontiac Solstice, or the Mazda MX-5.

A Red Line model of the Sky was introduced on April 11, 2006 at the New York Auto Show. It uses the same 260 hp (194 kW) turbocharged Ecotec engine as the Solstice GXP, as well as the same standard 5-speed Aisin manual transmission. An automatic transmission is optional.

The Red Line receives a standard torque-sensing limited-slip differential, standard StabiliTrak stability control, and an enhanced sport suspension over the standard Sky (currently available as a dealer-add on for regular Skys). Other exterior enhancements include dual exhausts, 18 inch wheels, and a specific front fascia modeled for the Red Line. On the inside the Red Line will receive a special leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, special embroidery on the seats and floormats, metallic door sill covers and stainless steel pedals, special tachometer and gauges, and a digital boost gauge in the Driver Information Center.

Prices start at $29,025 for the Red Line model, which started shipping in the third quarter of 2006.

[edit] Mallett V8 conversion

Mallett Cars says it will offer a limited-production run of the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky with V8 engines.

The company, an Ohio conversion firm that specializes in high-performance versions of the Chevrolet Corvette and Cadillac CTS-V, is customizing the roadsters with the 6.0L LS2 and the latest most powerful GM engine, the 7.0L LS7. The LS2 makes 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, while the LS7 makes 505 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. At the highest end Mallett also offers a turbocharged LS7 engine that puts out 900 hp at the crankshaft and 750 hp at the rear wheels.
